The Summerside Bicycle Bus announced last week's bicycle-to-school winners today. This is Week Number Five in an Eight Week Project. Here are some photos and below the photos are our award recipients. As you can see, on Friday, some of the riders tested out their downhill abilities at Greenfield. This is a great way for kids to gain even more skill and confidence on the bicycle:
HEALTHY START AWARD
The Subway Healthy Start Award, presented to the top Summerside classroom with the highest participation in the Bicycle Bus program, went to Mme. Marie-Ann Roy's Grade 5 French Immersion at Elm Street.
This Grade 5 class was lead by the following children who made regular trips back and forth to school on the bicycle bus: Randy Corkum and Alysha Trenholm. The class will be receiving a free Subway healthy snack today.
THE MEDICINE SHOPPE TOP CYCLIST AWARD
This award is presented to the top rider in all participating schools. The prize is a monetary prize which is held in trust until the duration of the project. At the end of the project, some riders will have "earned" enough to purchase a new bike for next Spring.
